Dr Sood did his medical degree at the Cuttack Medical College in 1988. After couple of years of practice in Rural Medicine and Paediatrics he did his MD in General Internal Medicine at the prestigious Post Graduate Institute in Chandigarh in 1995. He became a member of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh in 1998 and he completed his certificate of specialist training in Genitourinary Medicine in 2003. His area of interest includes sexually transmitted infections, HIV infection, other blood borne viruses like Hepatitis B and C, erectile dysfunction, psycho-sexual medicine, contraception, general internal medicine and infectious diseases. He works for the NHS at the Dudley Group of Hospitals, Dudley.

Dr Sood is a member of the British HIV Association, American STD Association, BAASH & Canadian Society of Rural Physicians. He has several publications in international journals including International Journal of STD and AIDS and Journal of Infection. He has presented papers at many international conferences.

Dr Sood holds a Diploma in Genitourinary Medicine, Family Planning and Medical Education, a Diploma in Psychosexual Medicine and a Diploma in Medical Education.

Dr. Sood was General Secretary of the West Midlands GUM Committee for two years from 2005 to 2006 and is now General Secretary of the British International Doctors Association Kiddermister and Dudley area from August 2007.
